When you begin your business everything is exciting and you are ever so ready to conquer the world. This is a new development phase between you and your business. However, like all relationships, we go through a honeymoon phase, generally. After about the first 3 months you are likely to be a little tired, as you have been creating, planning, developing, managing and preparing your business for launch. When you are serious about your business you commit every available waking hour to it and then some, meaning you eat, sleep and drink business thoughts. This can be exhilarating, but equally exhausting for many.
Throughout your journey though, you are bound to hit some bumps which can potentially derail you or throw your plans sideways for the day, the week or the year etc. This is to be expected and should to be accounted for in your approach from the outset, however, these bumps can also come one after the other and before you know it, you can feel like you are in stormy waters with one wave slapping you in the face after the other. Whether you are relying on pure adrenaline to keep you going, or you are at your wits end, with all there is to do to get your baby off the ground, there is one simple strategy that can keep you from losing the momentum.
This is not something to take lightly and can be applied everyday, everywhere and anywhere at any given time. It is one of the most under-rated processes to help you succeed at your business and in life and yet one of the simplest to do. If you would like to give this a go, start with:
1. Stopping the world from spinning around you for just one moment;
2. Slowly stretch your body out from top to toe;
3. Now, gently close your eyes and imagine yourself in a calm, happy place;
4. All you have to do from here is - take a deep breath for around 5 counts (through your nose preferably), hold only momentarily for again 5 counts, where comfortable to do so, and then slowly breathe out, again, you guessed it - for another 5 counts.
5. Repeat, if you choose, until you feel ready to open your eyes and embrace whatever is put before you, with a new approach or just to have to dive in either way and take the challenge head on.
6. On each occasion concentrate on feeling the air moving through your airways as your diaphragm is expanded, not just affecting your lungs, but right down deep, where movement occurs from the belly too.
(Careful you don't get any headspins, particularly if this is new for you.)

The facts of the matter are, all too many of us in this over stimulated, busy world, tend to get ourselves tied up in knots because we simply forget to breathe. Yes, that's right, breathe. We all know to do so, but we don't really stop and give it the focus this fundamental basic deserves. Providing additional oxygen to your brain allows you to think better. It helps you to remain calm, when all those around you appear to be running in circles. This short and effective application could make all the difference to your perspective on each and every matter that comes your way. This includes management of every factor that you need to deal with daily, as well as those one offs - that can be either devastating or a chance for you to test how capable you are, the difference being how you cope at any given time. This beautiful and simple gift of being able to control how you breathe should not be glazed over. It helps you to get off the merry-go-round, it assists you to feel at peace with yourself and those around you and it can give you the added capacity to think clearly and ultimately remain healthier because of it. Without breathing you effectively have ....well nothing.
So, now might be a good time to give conscious breathing a try. Matter of fact, just as I was about to finish sharing this note with you, the internet connection was interrupted. My immediate reaction was 'oh no', I literally froze in frustration and then I decided to take some of my own advice and just stop everything, gently stretch, close my eyes, imagine a beautiful place and breathe and what do you know, before I knew it, the cause of the problem was located and rectified. It probably would have been rectified anyway, but I wouldn't have experienced the added bonus of being calm and happy at the same time.
There are more added bonuses of practicing deep breathing. It is not something we do naturally necessarily, so it does require you to give some time back for you, just to instill this as part of your daily, and even hourly routine. Perhaps on the hour even. Better still, deep breathing can have lots of other benefits then just the ones listed above. In a time when our immunity matters most during the coronavirus chaos, deep breathing is scientifically noted as helping to improve our immunity...a value which can never be overstated, but particularly in 2020. If we take care of ourselves better than imagine the possibilities of how much more enjoyable life will be and how much more productive we can be. If you find it hard to fit self in, as I know I do, then perhaps just begin with these deep breathing tips.
